It's A New Day

Haven't been painting lately (which might account for some of the mood issues).  However, I continue to play with pen and ink and colored pencils.  I enjoy getting absorbed into the details.  I did write and cancel a showing I was to have had in September.  There is no way I will be able to afford all the framing I would need to have done by then.  It's okay - there will be other opportunities in the future.

Thanks to those who actually made the read from yesterday's post - it was long.  Jury is still out on whether a note popped to the prof and disability services would make ME feel better.  We'll figure it out.

Hubby ended up going back to the chiro today.  I could tell yesterday that he was stiff as a board - but not complaining.  He tried going to the whirlpool at the Y but they had changed the water and it wasn't hot enough yet to do much good.

Today's agenda:  discuss when we will go down to college and see what we can see about Applied Music requirements, would love to paint or draw, do laundry (is that a mountain or the laundry pile?), and definitely start thinking about storyboard presentation (which is something I've yet to tell you about).  May your day be blessed.

Early Mornings

  Sorry the pic is so out of focus.  It really does look crisper than this.  Had to get up this morning to see Jbird off to early work.  I checked into my Typepad account to find out that they have made a bunch of changes to everything.  Kinda like going from the old Windows to Vista. (which I hope never to do)

Got Jbird to write a couple more thank you notes for his graduation gifts.  We didn't send out the announcements until September and some cards are just getting here.  Then we cruised over to Gainesville State to see about signing him up for some of the stuff he has to do before going to orientation.  However, he didn't want to do the placement tests this week so I'll have to call later today to see about next week's times.

This week is loaded with activities.  My friend Judy has two different medical tests this week.  Jbird is scheduled to work three days and he has a class on Tuesday.  He also has a meeting Friday night.  My final art class for this period is Thursday. Hubby's birthday is on Saturday and he will be going to the UGA homecoming game as a gift from one of his buds.  Thank goodness I don't have to go!

I've got a couple of paintings to finish up. I am beginning to appreciate the quick dry of acrylics.  The two paintings I need to work on are oils and it will take six months for them to dry proper before you can varnish them.  I've got two new paintings I want to start.  Came up with an idea yesterday and can't wait to see how it works out.  I do think I'll try them both in acrylics.  I may want to give them away as Christmas gifts and I wouldn't be able to do that with oils. 

And I should have a picture in the new show at the Quinlan opening this week - with the opening on Thursday at 6 something.  I am going to need some canvas soon - trying to decide if I want to buy a roll of canvas and then stretch the finished project or buy pre-stretched canvas.  It is cheaper to buy the roll but a whole lot more convenient to have the canvas already stretched.  I know I want to paint a picture for the master bedroom but other than that all other pics are just experimental and having a bunch of canvases stacked around isnt' what I want either. (which leads one back to a roll of canvas because you can store the pictures flat)

Off to get the daily chores started and surf a little bit.  May your day be blessed.

There and Back Again

It's hard to believe that time can fly as fast as it does.  I'm old enough to know this but every now and then I lose a handle on it.  Such has been the case since my last post.  So I guess I'll try to do updates a little differently - this time by subject matter.

My studio class at the Quinlan Art Center was over in June.  Chris was having people meet on Tuesdays down at Kudzu but I haven't been able to make any of the classes.  Insert "car issues" here.  But that doesn't mean I haven't been painting.  See the pic with this post as an example.  This painting has been a real pain.  I've worked and worked on it and I'm still not pleased.  But - until I show it to Chris and he makes some helpful suggestions (like toss it in a can - lol) I am done with it.  Too much time spent on it and too much frustration.

I am getting ready to start another portrait of Jbird.  I have no idea where I'll end up putting the finished product - but this is another project that is both a challenge and born in my heart.  Must pick up the picture that I have in the show at the gallery in early August.  Trying to get something ready for the member's show that comes up this fall.

Things are rather undecided as to whether I'll be able to continue with the art studio.  As with just about everyone - cuts are having to be made to the budget.  I really enjoy the fellowship though - and it does give me an incentive to keep going.
