Some things really don't change all that much over time. I'm not saying the system hasn't changed, or that our culture hasn't altered. What I am saying is kids are still kids in school. You have the leaders, the learners, the "pay-attention-to-me-ers", and the "I need to use the restroomers - cause anything has to be more interesting than what is going on in the classroom". Oh - and that kid that tried to pull something behind your back "just cause" - still there. Or maybe that child that just looks so endearing - there too. Or the one you see and just want to pray that what you see won't happen in their future - there too. Oh - and let's not forget the "Space Invaders" - you know - the kids that just can not keep their hands to themselves and they haven't a clue why someone doesn't want their space invaded. (boundary challenged) Let's not forget the kid that drives everyone nuts cause they can't stay still or remain quiet - sorry folks - I've got a special place in my heart for those kids.
What I think I thought alot about watching them yesterday was - they have their whole life in front of them. So many pages to be written upon. I did my student teaching in that school around twenty years ago. Believe or not the teacher I did it with walked into the office the same time I did. I asked her what she was doing there. She is retired and doing some subbing now and then. Well, I felt like I was right back where I started at. I hope I brought a bit of wisdom with me this time :)

Kids--all kinds--are great! Each on their own journey, so young, still learning, so different from one another. Like little snowflakes.
